Do You Have A Feel For Consistency in Your Golf Swing?

Ran across this one and thought it good enough to pass on.  I agree totally that high handicappers are "Feel Challenged".

"Do You Have A Feel For Consistency?"

You hit a good shot and think “wow, that was great. I wish I knew how to do that every time.”  You then hit a bad shot and think “oh, that was terrible. What did I do wrong in that swing?”  Both statements above adequately describe that you're missing the most important factor to truly becoming consistent ... “feel”.  The "feel of your golf swing".  Meaning - the quotes above tell us that you don’t know what you did in each of those golf swings.

This is common in close to 100% of the Golfers that score above 80. They suffer from a lack of “feel” in their swing to either repeat or correct.  Having “feel” is what separates the consistent Player from the inconsistent Golfer. So my question to you is … how much do you concentrate on the “feel” of your golf swing?

To give a clearer picture: a Player that averages in the low 70’s has the ability to play on the golf course while thinking of just one swing-thought throughout his/her round. They’re able to go up to each ball and think about just one thing before and during their shot.  This swing-thought is based on understanding the cause and effect of your swing so that you can focus on just the cause. This golfer works to become 100% engrossed on that “feel” as it's no longer necessary to think about all the little "effects" in their swing.

For example: a Player finds that when he/she can get their center of gravity moving in balance on the backswing (cause) … everything else after that (effects) just happen automatically - producing their best shots.

This golfer then works to become 100% engrossed on that “feel”.  His/her only thought is on the center of gravity moving in balance on the backswing. And when his/her thoughts are purely on that “feel” … they hit good shots.  Yes, there will be bad shots … but the Player will be better prepared to make the proper correction after just one shot because they'll easily re-find their feel/swing.

With the above 90 and 100 golfer - they don’t have a "feel" in their golf swing.  These golfers are usually more focused on multiple things that they heard from a friend, were taught in a lesson, read in a magazine and/or watched on a YouTube video.  And because these Golfers don't have a feel to their golf swing (cause) … they have a tendency of jumping from swing tip to swing tip (effects) searching for something/anything that will work. So after a couple of bad shots they are now trying to play golf while in survival mode.  And while in this survival mode, they start to add even more (and usually contradictory) swing techniques to their already too long of a checklist of things to do in each swing. Thus, they are now moving farther and farther away from using “feel” to produce a consistent swing hoping to eventually stumble onto something that will work.

Most Golfers never learn how to establish a “feel” to their golf swing. They’re too busy with using a tip based mentality that’s promoted by the golf magazines, YouTube videos, and golf channel.  And as most golfers are more than willing to try these short term tips … the trend of inconsistent golfers continues to grow.  Yet, the majority of better players don’t talk about tips … they talk about the “feel” of their golf swing.

The average golfer is so overloaded with the do's and don’ts of their swing ... they have never been able to establish "feel".   The “player” is focused on a singular “feel”

Go ahead, be a Player!
