This
week’s BS of the Week Goes to Golf Digest
This week’s award is a little different. It’s not that the articles are BS, it’s more
about them just being useless information.
First we have what’s in Kevin Chappell’s golf bag. This begs the question of why should you
care? You can’t buy it and if you could
you couldn’t hit it.
Then we have a swing sequence of Jamie Donaldson. I guess the assumption is that by looking at
it and reading the analysis you can magically develop one just like it. I like my odds on the lottery better.
Then we have an article on elite athletes using
oxygen-deprivation techniques. Now that
out to useful to all of you.
Then we have an article by Ricky Fowler telling you how to “Get
More Birdie Looks”. A Wonderful
article where he explains exactly what he does.
My point is that if you could do exactly what he does you wouldn’t be
reading golf tips in Golf Digest. You
would be competing against him.
There is a really good one in the on chipping and
pitching by Butch Harmon. Of course almost anything he does is good,
useful information.
I’m not telling you to cancel your subscription, just
pick and choose what you read. Just
because it’s in their magazine doesn’t mean it can or will help you. Of course if they took all that out it would
be mostly advertising and that wouldn’t be good. Maybe just as helpful but not good. Have you ever thought about how long you’ve
been reading the magazine and how much better your game is now.
Until next week’s award and I already have some great
candidates, just keep it simple, swing at 75% max and have fun.
